There is no quick SEO fix to get more organic traffic or raise your website’s profile on the search engine results page (SERPs). By implementing these hacks incrementally, you can unleash their collective power and rank for multiple keywords.

Before we move on, Identifying the most effective keywords for your unique business is the key to unlocking SEO success. this cannot be overstated enough. If you need help to Identifying the best keywords for your business, contact Digital Presence! We’re a Christchurch SEO and digital marketing agency – there is no benefit of doing any website optimisation without researching keywords.

Create unique pages for each service you offer

The temptation is to take a simplistic approach to your website to avoid overwhelming the visitor. But this is a missed opportunity to rank for relevant and niche keywords for the specific service. Create unique pages with tailored SEO for each service that is accessible from the main navigation.

Revisit Google Business Profile

If you have a Google Business Profile (previously known as Google My Business), the primary category you selected likely responds to the Home Page. However, if you offer multiple services, update the GBP profile to incorporate the additional types of separate services. For example, Digital Presence falls as a Christchurch marketing agency but also as a web designer, web hosting company, and graphic design services.

Develop an internal link strategy

An internal link is a link from one page of your website to another – they help visitors easily navigate the website for more related information. Using an appropriate anchor text gives more context to the search bots and readers. Internal links help create a hierarchy of information; the pages you link to see an improvement in authority and receive a boost in ranking.

Exploit the Home Page Authority

The Home Page is typically the most visited page on a website and often has the most links pointing to it. The authority of the page can be shared across the site. For example, blog posts published on the Home Page will appear more in search engines. Then if they were on a category page – they inherit more value.

You can also apply this concept to the service pages SEO – list them on the Home Page and link back to them. Add a short description of each service for context and include the keyword you are targeting in the anchor text. For example, rather than ‘more info’ say ‘more about website design’ etc.

Encourage reviewers to use targeted keywords

User experience is a huge aspect of Google’s ranking signals, and it crawls every aspect of your digital presence to understand its merits. If keywords are used by customers in native reviews, you are more likely to rank for them in search. You can’t manipulate what customers say, but you can make suggestions when you email them to remind them to review. Which service did you use, what product did you use, and which office did you contact?

Looks don’t matter, right? Don’t judge a book by its cover, there’s more than meets the eye, beauty is in the eye of the beholder – there are many commonly used phrases that bestow the virtue of looking beyond the aesthetics. And in many other scenarios we agree, but when it comes to a business website design, none of the above apply. Is it shallow? Possibly. Does it negatively impact your business? Hugely. The world is image and technology obsessed, so how your website looks and functions is a big deal. A dated, clunky, or poorly designed website runs the risk of presenting your business as outdated and behind the times, at worse untrustworthy. If your competitors have sleek, modern, and user-friendly websites while yours feels stuck in the early 2000s, who do you think your audience will choose? The hidden costs of an outdated website An outdated website isn’t just a cosmetic issue. If you are missing the mark on the aesthetics, there are likely functional issues too. This negatively impacts your business in ways you may not even realise. Here’s what a poorly designed website tells your customers: You’re not keeping up with industry trends . If your website looks like it hasn’t been touched in years, visitors may assume your business isn’t evolving either or likely to offer the most up-to-date products or services. You don’t prioritise user experience . A slow, difficult-to-navigate website frustrates users and compels them to click away – life is too short to wait! You lack credibility . A poorly maintained website makes your business appear unreliable, reducing trust in your products or services. You’re missing out on sales . A confusing, slow, or non-mobile-friendly site prevents potential customers from taking action, leading to lost revenue and reputation. Signs and symptoms you need a new website design If you have a website, especially if you designed it yourself, you may be blind to areas where it can be improved – the attachment to an underperforming DIY website design is both relatable (we’ve all done it) and damaging to your business. However diverse website designs are, they share common signs and symptoms when overdue a website upgrade:
